Look around you, what do you see? If you are at home, what do the favourite rooms in your house look like? The colour of the walls, curtains, carpet, pictures and ornaments? What clothes does your wardrobe contain? Are they comfortable, stylish, colourful, warm, fashionable? All of these things are different for all of us – no two people or families are the same, we all look different, dress differently and decorate our homes differently. We are all unique!
All of the things we have around us say something about us to the outside world. They are a declaration of our own character and personality.
While so many do amazing things to the inside of our homes, the outside is frequently the poor cousin and receives little or no attention. Often a lack of time or ability in gardening sees the area outside the back door being neglected or paid little attention to. It doesn’t reflect our personality and it doesn’t add value either to our homes or our lives.
So what can we do to change this? How can we spark some life in to our green space? The answer lies in knowing what to look for and how to make best use of it. Identify the things you would like to do in the garden (and those you don’t!) and plan the garden so that it includes or excludes those elements. If you don’t like the prospect of gardening choose elements that don’t require too much effort to keep on top of.
The benefit of making better use of your outside space is that it will energise you across all aspects of your life. Bring out your uniqueness and shape your garden to suit your personality.
